CLAT is one of the most-competitive entrance exams for admissions to law courses including five-year integrated LLB and one-year LLM courses in law colleges of India. The exam, primarily conducted for admission to law courses offered by participating NLUs including top 3 law colleges in India as per National Institutes Ranking Framework (NIRF). However, CLAT is also accepted by top private law colleges in India. Apart from admissions, CLAT LLM scores are also considered by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for filling up various positions in their Legal departments.
Therefore, CLAT is a national-level entrance exam, held in an offline mode for both courses. The question paper of CLAT for UG courses is based on five subjects i.e. English Language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. Whereas, CLAT question paper for PG courses is based on law subjects including Constitutional Law, Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, IPR and Jurisprudence, as well as, Law topics and Contemporary issues. Around 3.000 seats at the undergraduate level, and around 1,000 seats at postgraduate level are filled at the participating NLUs through Centralized Admission Process of seat allotment.
